Gareth Corbett, Unregistered user Friday 03rd of July 2009 07:15:59 PM: I have had a Philips CRT 36in TV for the last 8 years so have had a soft spot for their electronics/home entertainment equipment. This is a review of this model of the television, which overall is great.
Connectivity - The set has 3 HDMIs (2 on back, 1 on side), 2 scarts, RGB, Component and S video. It also has a USB port which reads MP3s, JPEGS and MPEG4s. There is also a separate audio in for your laptop or any other device that sends audio and video down two separate streams.
Appearance - This set is in glossy black, with no visible speakers. It looks great and I really like the curved corners.
Picture - The set has a multitude of resolutions up to 1080p for HDMI and 1920x1280 for RGB. The picture is great, it is bright, no visible blur (I watched the football last night and it was a pleasure). Upscaled DVDs look fantastic.
Sound - Moving from a top of the range CRT with 5.1 surround sound, I know the sound may not be amazing. I have to say it is good at low and medium volumes, but at higher volumes it is not the bassiest and for avid movie buffs I suspect a home theatre system will be required. But this is true for most modern LCD TVs. The sound if actually very bright, not tinny, and good for general TV watching.
User interface - This set has a fantastic graphical user interface with a customisable home menu where you can have all your devices in a menu to easily select rather than continually scrolling through the source button. In addition the options menus are easy to navigate with loads of picture and sound options to suit one\'s taste.
Overall - This set has a brilliant picture, good sound for an LCD TV (though some may be disappointed), and great connectivity. I gave it 10/10 because I think it looks great in corner of the living room and also has picture much better than I was expecting on an LCD. I would recommend it.
