The new system works by sending a separate 1080p Full HD image to each eye, ensuring sharp, crisp edges and detailed textures at all times.
An impressive contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 allows the Panasonic TXP50VT20B to display very robust blacks, and improvements to the panel and cell discharge area allow for great contrast, even in brightly lit areas. This means that there is no pre-greying of the sort youd find in earlier plasma sets, and even in dark scenes, textures and every strand of hair are individually reproduced.
The TX-P50VT20 offers 1080p Full HD, and with Panasonics 600Hz technology that actually means 1080 lines of resolution. This will make your Blu-ray discs and freesat HD picture shine, and even standard definition images will look great. Even fast-moving action sequences or sports will look great, and as each frame is displayed for slightly less time, after-images are reduced compared to earlier systems.
This VIERA set is also certified by THX, a guarantee that is only attached to TVs that are optimal for watching films, meaning that the stunning images you see are exactly as the film-makers intended.
If you have a suitable satellite dish, the built-in freesat HD tuner will enable you to watch free to air HD channels from the BBC and ITV, with more content to come in the near future, or you can watch Freeview HD by just plugging into your existing aerial.
The TX-P50VT20B also has VIERA CAST technology. This service, exclusive to Panasonic's VIERA television and Blu-ray players, allows you to access online content from a wide range of services including YouTube, Eurosport, Bloomberg and Picasa.
